Hands-On Care

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, or OMT, is a series of hands-on techniques used to help diagnose illness or injury and facilitate your body's natural tendency toward self-healing.

Using OMT, your Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) can effectively treat your muscles and joints to relieve pain, promote healing and increase mobility.

Benefits of OMT

OMT can help provide relief in acute and chronic conditions, including:

  • Muscle and Joint Pain

  • Sinus disorders

  • Migraines

  • Digestive disorders

  • Sports Injuries

  • Back pain

  • Ear infections

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Repetitive Stress injuries

The OMT Difference

Before performing OMT, your DO will complete a physical exam and gather information about your medical history, lifestyle and environment.

Using OMT, your DO will move your muscles and joints using techniques that may incorporate:

  • Stretching

  • Gentle Pressure

  • Light resistance

OMT is set apart from chiropractic and physical therapy techniques in may ways:

  • OMT is performed by DOs who are fulling licensed physicians.

  • DOs are trained to treat the whole person, not just symptoms.

  • OMT can be used to treat a wide range of conditions and help promote self-healing.
